Since 1974, artist, author and lecturer Benjamin Creme has been preparing the way for the biggest event in history – the emergence of Maitreya, the World Teacher, and His group, the Masters of Wisdom. Trained and supervised over many years by one of the Masters with whom he is in constant telepathic contact, he has access to up-to-date information on Maitreya's emergence, giving him the total conviction needed to present this story to a skeptical world.

Creme regularly lectures worldwide and appears on television and radio. In the US alone he has been interviewed on more than 300 radio and television shows. In December 2008 Benjamin Creme announced that in the very near future a large, bright star would appear in the sky visible throughout the world, night and day, heralding the imminent appearance of Maitreya in his first interview on a major US television program.
Within weeks reports from all over the world of an unusually bright star, often moving and changing colour, began to appear in the media and on YouTube.

During Benjamin Creme’s London lecture on 14 January 2010, he announced that Maitreya had recently been interviewed on a major US television network, inaugurating his public work.

Benjamin Creme explained: He was introduced not as Maitreya, the World Teacher and Head of our Spiritual Hierarchy, but simply as a man, one of us. In this way he 'ensures that men follow and support him for the truth and sanity of his ideas rather than for his status'. He spoke earnestly of the need for peace, achievable only through the creation of justice and the sharing of the world's resources.

By the end of 2010 Maitreya had made over two dozen television appearances, and more are expected to take place in the Americas, Japan, Europe and the rest of the world. His open mission in the world has begun.
Ultimately, when enough people are responding to his call for sharing and justice, he will reveal his true identity in a worldwide press conference. Then, in response to the heartfelt demand of the people, Maitreya, the World Teacher, will fully commence his work among us. As Maitreya himself has said: Soon, now very soon, you will see my face and hear my words.

When you see me you will know why I have come, for I shall appeal to you in these terms: 'Save my little ones. Feed your brothers. Remember that mankind is One, children of the One Father. Make over, in trust, the goods of the Earth to all who are in need. Do this now and save the world'.

My task will be to show you how to live together peacefully as brothers. This is simpler than you imagine, my friends, for it requires only the acceptance of sharing. Sharing, indeed, is divine. It underlies all progress for man. By its means, my brothers and sisters, you can come into correct relationship with God; and this, my friends, underlies your lives. When you share, you recognize God in your brother. This is a truth, simple, but until now difficult for man to grasp. The time has come to evidence this truth.
